TIN Check Uruguay
For individuals:
The TIN is the “Identity Card Number” issued
by the DNIC (National Office of Civil
Identification).
For foreign individuals who do not have an
identity card in force, the TIN is called
“Foreigner’s Identification number (NIE)” and
is issued by the Tax Authority (RUT
Department).
Format:
The Identity Card Number consists of 8 digits.
The NIE consists of 9 digits.
For entites:
The TIN is called “RUT number” and is issued by the Tax Administration (applicable also for certain individuals carrying out business activities).
Format:
The RUT number consists of 12 digits.
