For individuals:

NIN: Everyone resident in Norway is assigned a unique National Identity Number (NIN).
D-Number: Foreign nationals who come to Norway to work for less than six months are given a temporary identity number called a Dnumber

Format:

The NIN consists of 11 digits. The first 6 digits represent the date of birth in the order day,
month, year.
D- numbers are similar in structure to NINs, but the first digit is increased by four..

For entities:

Entities are issued an organization number which serves as a TIN upon registration..

Format:

The organization number consists of 9 digits.
Entities which are registered in the Value Added Tax Register are required to add the letters MVA as a suffix to the organization number.
