The first TIN equivalent number is the Social security number issued by the Guernsey Social Security Department.
The 2nd TIN equivalent number is the UK National Insurance Number (NINO).
The 3rd Tin equivalent number is the Jersey Social Security Number.
Some pre 1979 existing UK/Jersey Insurance Numbers remain and are potentially valid TIN for Guernsey purposes.

Format:

The Social security number consists of 6 digits prefixed with GY (format: GY999999).
The NINO consists of 9 characters (format: LL999999L).
The Jersey Social Security Number consists 6 digits prefixed with JY and a final letter (format: JY999999L).

Entities:

The TIN for entities is called “Guernsey Company Registration number”.
The TIN for foundations is the “Foundation Registration number”.
The TIN for charities and non profit organizations are respectively “Charity and Non Profit Organisation registration numbers”

Format:

Guernsey Company Registration number consists of 1 to 6 digits.
Foundation Registration number consists of 1 to 3 digits.
Charity Registration number consists of 1 to 3 digits prefixed with CH (format: CH9, CH99, CH999).
Non Profit Organisation number consists of 1 to 3 digits prefixed with NP (format: NP9, NP99, NP999).
