To validate a tax identification number (TIN) from China, the TIN must be placed on top of it, which must obey the following format:

On the ID Number the TIN assumes the following format:

On the Passport Card the TIN assumes the following format:
• XNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNA– Total of 18 digits

On the case of Soldier Card the TIN assumes:
• JNNNNNNNNNNNNNN – Total of 15 digits

N identifies that it must be a numeric digit.
A identifies an alphanumeric digit (letter or number).
J identifies that must be used the character “J”.
X identifies that can be used one of this characters “L”, “C”, “W”, “H”, “M” or “T”.

For Entities (TIN / USCC)

The old TIN (before year 2015) consists of 15 digits
• NNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

The new TIN consists of 8 digits and 10 alphanumeric digits (18 in Total) with the following format:
• NNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAA

N identifies that it must be a numeric digit.
